Sonophagen: Breaking Musical Borders, One Sound at a Time
Some bands are built around a genre. Others around a sound. Sonophagen was built around a question:
What happens when music refuses to recognize borders?
Founded in 2023 by Mexican musician Darío Vázquez, Sonophagen emerged from an endless curiosity for the world's musical traditions and an unwillingness to stay within the familiar. Instead of following the conventions of Western music, the project set out to explore something far more ambitious: creating an entirely new musical language from cultures spread across the globe.
Arabic melodies, African rhythms, Balkan energy, Eastern influences, Latin roots and even traces of rock all find their place within Sonophagen's sound. The result is not simply "World Music" in the traditional sense. It is a constantly evolving sonic landscape that the band prefers to describe as Nu Folk—music that respects tradition while boldly reinventing it.
Their first EP introduced listeners to this fearless artistic vision through tracks such as "Fiesta Negra" and "Cuidado con el Diablo.

TURN BLUE From the Shadows of the 80s to a New Eternal Chapter
Some bands disappear and are forgotten. Others leave behind a legacy that quietly waits for the right moment to return. TURN BLUE. belongs to the latter.
Originally formed in Bremen-Nord, Germany, in 1984 by bassist Mike Stoll and drummer Mark Heiser, TURN BLUE. emerged during a period when dark, atmospheric music was finding its voice across Europe. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Cure, the band quickly developed a distinctive sound built around haunting melodies, introspective lyrics, and an unmistakably gothic atmosphere.
With guitarist Michael Müller, electric violinist Marius Süssmann, and vocalists Birgit Vetter and Claudia Mertling completing the lineup, TURN BLUE. began crafting German-language songs that captured both melancholy and reflection. Their music painted vivid emotional landscapes, combining dark moods with thoughtful storytelling.
As the years progressed, lineup changes followed. After the departure of Claudia Mertling and Michael Müller, guitarist Tom Auffahrt joined the group, helping shape the next phase of TURN BLUE.'s journey.

Spotlight: Catherine Flox
Some artists discover music. For Catherine Flox, music has
always been there.
Growing up in a home filled with the sounds of legendary
artists such as Queen, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Depeche Mode, and ABBA, she
developed a deep connection with music from an early age.
While other children
played games, Catherine was often found running to the television whenever MTV
played one of her favorite songs. She would dance, sing along in her own
improvised version of English, and even pretend to be a rock star with a tennis
racket as her guitar.
Unlike many of her peers, Catherine's musical tastes
followed a different path. The music that surrounded her at school and
university never truly reflected her own preferences. Instead, she remained
loyal to the artists and styles that had inspired her since childhood. Even
today, while she occasionally explores contemporary music, she finds herself
drawn to timeless sounds and authentic artistic expression.
At the heart of the band lies a deep musical chemistry
between powerful vocals, expressive guitar work, and a rhythm section capable
of balancing intensity with restraint. Their songs are built on feeling rather
than formula — combining melodic depth, reflective lyricism, and dynamic
instrumentation into something that feels honest and unforced.
What makes The Sway stand out today is their refusal to
chase artificial perfection. Their music carries texture, vulnerability, and
humanity — qualities that are becoming increasingly rare in a heavily polished
digital world. Every note feels lived-in, every lyric carries weight, and every
performance reflects the kind of artistic maturity that can only come through
time and experience.
Now entering a new chapter, The Sway are proving that
meaningful rock music does not belong to one era alone. Their return is not
based on nostalgia, but on the simple fact that genuine songs still matter.
And with the release of their deeply personal new single The
Grief, the band may have delivered one of their most emotionally powerful
moments yet.
