Between 1986 and 1990, the band released three cassette productions through the independent label IQ-Vertrieb, gradually building a loyal following throughout Northern Germany.

What truly set TURN BLUE. apart, however, was their live performance experience.

Their concerts became known for immersive light shows, dense clouds of dry-ice fog, and a powerful stage presence that transformed every appearance into an event. Within the growing gothic scene, the band developed a reputation that extended far beyond their hometown. Frontwoman Birgit Vetter's charismatic performances captivated audiences, while the inclusion of an electric violin added a unique and rarely seen dimension to the band's sound.

A turning point arrived after a concert at the legendary Phantastencafé near Hanover. Following a performance supporting the then-popular Prince Of The Blood, TURN BLUE. received an unexpected opportunity when a representative connected to Rolling Stone in Milan approached them with the possibility of performing as a support act for Simple Minds.

It should have been the breakthrough moment every band dreams of. Instead, fate intervened.

After Birgit Vetter left the group, TURN BLUE. searched for a replacement singer capable of carrying the same stage presence and vocal strength. Tragically, before rehearsals could begin, the new vocalist was involved in a serious car accident. The Simple Minds concert was cancelled, and the disappointment proved devastating. Shortly afterward, TURN BLUE. disbanded in 1990.

Yet the music never completely disappeared. In 1998, a CD anthology titled The Music. was released through LaBOX, preserving recordings from the band's formative years and introducing their work to a new generation of listeners.

For many bands, that would have been the end of the story. For TURN BLUE, it was merely an intermission.

More than three decades later, in early 2025, founding member Mike Stoll set out to revive the spirit of the band. Although the original members had long since settled across different parts of Germany, a new lineup was assembled featuring Leon Barber and Michael Miller on guitars, Marc Davids on drums, Caterina Thomson on vocals and keyboards, and Alena Van Der Hooft on vocals, keyboards, 
 and electric violin.

Rather than attempting to recreate the past, the new incarnation of TURN BLUE. embraced it. The result is a modern interpretation of the band's original vision—one that respects its gothic roots while bringing fresh energy and contemporary production to the music.

Their comeback began with the release of Black Fruit No. 2 in June 2025, accompanied by a music video and a worldwide digital launch. This was followed by Tears In The Rain in August 2025, further confirming that TURN BLUE. had returned with purpose and creativity.

September 2025 marked another milestone with the release of the album Songs For The Eternity. Available both digitally and on CD, the album bridges past and present by combining reimagined songs from the band's original recordings with entirely new material, alongside two historic live recordings from 1986.
